Is India A Unitary Form Of Government?

Who is responsible to maintain and observe the sanctity of the principle of checks and balances in India: government or judiciary? Should the court waste its precious time in matters of administration, vigilance and other such matters and let judicial matters pend for decades? Can the Supreme Court take over the executive responsibility also in addition to its judicial functions? The citizens have faced the crises of confidence in the legislature and executive but not with the judiciary, which is its last hope. Decision making is controversial because it is simply not possible always to apply judicial standards in political, diplomatic, economic and security matters, though it is all subject to judicial scrutiny whenever challenged. That fear of judicial test is enough to keep a tight vigil and promote fairness, equity, natural justice and transparency in public services. When will the court start appreciating the sacrifice or martyrdom of civil servants doggedly fighting to save the public money, interest or even security of the country? Had it been so, it would have rewarded those who tried to save the public money stolen in the Bofors scam by Quatrocchi or Nirav Modi, Mallya, Chowksi gangs. Such officers are silenced. Why?

Mini Articles

I have been working on the manuscript of my book for the past few weeks and could not devote time to Vaaniyog as much as I should have. However, significant developments during this period were covered in mini-articles published on the popular website whispersinthecorridors.com I would like to share them with my readers. The UN […]

Public Not Private Banks Looted

The strange phenomenon is that none of the swindlers could cheat any private bank- they committed robbery on public sector banks only. It was easy for them to form criminal nexus with ministers, bureaucrats and bankers and indulge in all kinds of unlawful activities as exposed in cases of Kingfisher Airlines owned by Vijay Mallya to the tune of Rs. 9000 Crore, Mehul Choksi and Navin Modi of Gitajali group of companies to the tune of approximately 16000 Crore, Rotomac group of Bhandari and many other

No Improvement In Public Services

Deficiency in public services like MTNL are deliberate and with unholy intent. MTNL can’t be allowed to be made sick and then sold off to private players. Too much of privatisation can be suicidal. Improve public services and penalise the concerned public servant if it is not restored to quality functioning in less than 24 hours. No mercy on this count. Public anger be appreciated as the public has the power to punish those who fail them or tolerate corruption, dereliction or inefficiency.

Save Democracy

The Congress Party can’t be allowed to hijack the administration of justice. Neither can Justice be mortgaged to the Congress Party or their allies, especially the Communists. India is a free country. Its judiciary is independent. Its people are wiser than what the Congress leaders tried to say while telling lies about the Chief Justice of India and the Supreme Court in the media today. The voters will set them right and administer lessons in democratic values to them.

Illegal Trade In Biometrics

Many Aadhaar card holders suffered a painful experience when their fingerprint authentication failed. This is evidence that the plan of covering the whole population under the Aadhaar scheme has been rendered futile by the incompetent people. The UIDAI takes no responsibility or provide the individual any explanation how such a horrendous mistake could happen. The UIDAI can’t certify the correctness of the data in its possession or that all biometric details of every cardholder stand verified and there is no case of failure of fingerprint authentication or iris authentication. The UIDAI ought to have woken up to the dangers of the illegal trade in biometrics, which can harm the interests of the individual and even the country.

Naidu Leads The Opposition Sprint

Chandra Babu Naidu has mistimed his political move of severing connections with the ruling NDA led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He stands to lose everything and gain nothing. His No Confidence Motion will prove a monumental mistake. He will never be made Prime Minister by the Congress Party or Mamata Banerji or Sharad Pawar or other claimants to the throne who have long been playing the destabilisation game in India with some success but more failures in the past 50 years. Chandra Babu has sacrificed the interests of the people of Andhra Pradesh. He must rectify his mistake swiftly in order to re-gain public trust in his political maturity.
