The American Presidential election this year is taking place in a fast changing political climate of global re-alignment of forces for the first time after the cessation of hostilities on the surface. In reality, the Cold War had never ended- it only subsided in response to the needs of the times. The sole objective of the Cold War was “containment of communism”.it is, in essence, a reversal of objectives and targets from Containment of Communism at the start of Cold War-I to Containment of America in Cold War-II.
Jihadism poses a threat that challenges the power of the united America (if all the contestants including Hillary and Trump were to unite). Voters will have to take the call without getting distracted by the election rhetoric of any of them, as it is they who face the real challenge and not their leaders, who are privileged class in democracy everywhere).
It would be in the interests not only of the American voters and contestants but all of humanity if the press/media in America sticks to the cardinal rules of fair and honest reporting. Here is the list of Ten Commandments for the press/media:
Thou shall not fabricate news.
Thou shall not misinform.
Thou shall not resort to disinformation.
Thou shall not commit unholy alliance with the ruling class.
Thou shall always remain fair & true to thy profession of journalism.
Thou shall not murder reputations.
Thou shall not bear false witness to thy rivals.
Thou shall ever be faithful only to the people.
Thou shall never turn commercial.
Thou shall never fall for the flesh or lucre.
Neither poverty nor climate change nor terrorism pose the greatest threat to humanity. Only technology holds the real threat to mankind. Man will be the cause of his own destruction.
The civilized societies of modern democracies have to revisit their laws. Terrorists are exploiting the laws of modern liberal democratic societies. They can’t be treated to fair and equal treatment of the law. They inflict widespread casualties but suffer no consequences on arrest as they get away with the justice dispensation mechanism practiced by democracies. Inhuman elements deserve no human treatment.Violence for violence, brutality for brutality, savagery for savagery is not the answer. The world has invested heavily in modernizing. It can’t waste all its intellectual, moral and scientific achievements to reach this level by adopting the same means as are practiced by the ISIS or similar other terror groups. Doing so would validate their style. Besides, the modern world would find itself a weak match for the barbarity of the terrorists. Other methods would need to be devised. It has to be a UNO devised response.
India has been subjected to the ardhasatya (half truth) by a political ardha kumbh of the students & professors of the JNU under the influence of a variety of political forces in the country and abroad. Prominent among them are the Congress Party, the Communist Party of India, the Communist Party (Marxist), other left organizations, […]
So they butchered journalists and cartoonists in Paris in the name of Islam! But could they really kill them? It would be a great mistake on the part of those assassins to presume that they killed others. The idea of journalism and cartoon survives the
American intervention in Korea or Vietnam, Afghanistan or Iraq or in other parts of the world had its critics rush to target it in the most unsavory terms. That could be justified on ideological grounds during the cold war. There was need for justification for intervention in Iraq and Afghanistan. It divided global opinion; some […]
The poor man’s identity itself has been stolen. Look at our nouveau aam aadmi. Do they resemble the real aam aadmi (the nanga-bhooka-garib aam aadmi)? They are either rich or crorepatis or multi lakhpatis at least. Before the birth of the AAP there have been umpteen such claimants to the throne of the poor aam […]
The former UK Prime Minister is reported to have said that Mahatma Gandhi’s doctrine of non-violence is not universal in the present world scenario. He appears to be weighed down by the victories(?) scored by terrorists since 9/11. I don’t blame him, for he saw no terrorism before 9/11, though India was bleeding for decades. […]
